Responsible gambling

Betting should be entertainment. If it stops feeling that way, help is free and confidential.

Signs it may be time for a break

  • Betting more than you planned, or more than you can afford to lose
  • Chasing losses: betting again to win back what you lost
  • Borrowing money, or hiding your betting from people close to you
  • Feeling anxious, low or irritable when you aren't betting

Keep it in check

  • Set a budget before you start, and stop when it's gone.
  • Remember that every pick here is an estimate. Good picks lose often, and no pick is ever certain.
  • Use your sportsbook's own tools: most let you set deposit limits, take a time-out or close your account.

Excluding yourself

States with legal sports betting run self-exclusion programs that bar you from licensed sportsbooks for a period you choose. Your state's gaming regulator explains how to join. The helpline above can point you to yours.
